[Thésaurus Mesh]Sujet immunodépriméMots-clés : maladie fongique Résumé : Mucormycosis, also known as black fungus, is a rare but aggressive fungal disease with high morbidity and mortality rates that tends to affect patients who are severely immunocompromised. Early recognition of the infection and prompt intervention is critical for treatment success. In recent years the coronavirus disease of 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has resulted in a surge in the number of cases of mucormycosis. This study aims to report an unfortunate event involving an immunocompromised elderly man with mucormycosis of the foot who died as a result of sepsis caused by COVID-19. It is important to have a high clinical suspicion for mucormycosis when a clinical lesion develops, and to appropriately perform biopsy the lesion in question, particularly in the context of COVID-19. Raising awareness of COVID-19–associated mucormycosis may allow for early detection of the disease, thus enabling the initiation of rapid treatment, ultimately saving lives. It offers a concise model for understanding the complexity of movement while gaining a deeper insight into the physiology and mechanics of the walking process.
This second and revised edition provides new research on assessment, diagnosis, and treatment approaches to enhance gait efficiency. Changes include:
* Updated information and research on myofascial continuities
* More clearly arranged according to planes of movement
* New informative illustrations based on phases of gait with EMG readings
* Clear listing of the 'Essential Events'
The ability to walk upright on two legs is one of the major traits distinguishing us as humans, In Born to Walk, author James Earls explores the mystery of walking's evolution by describing the complex mechanisms enabling us to be efficient in bipedal gait. His model uses the latest research in paleoanthropology, sports medicine and anatomy, coupled with a functional understanding of the human form, to demonstrate how the whole body collaborates as an interconnected unit in walking, Earls explores the efficiency which is part of our natural design, distilling the complex actions into a simple sequence of "essential events" that engage the myofascia and utilize its full potential.
Born to Walk helps identify areas of the body that, if dysfunctional, may reduce efficiency of gait. With this knowledge we can help ourselves and our clients regain a flowing elasticity within gait.Permalink : https://bibliotheque.helb-prigogine.be/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id= Exemplaires

[Thésaurus HELB]:Paramédical:grandeurMots-clés : metatarsus bone diseases foot Résumé : Background: The metatarsal parabola or formula is an important principle in assessing normal foot structure and pathology. To understand what effect the positions of the distal ends of the metatarsals have on foot function, the relative length of each metatarsal must be considered. The purpose of this study was to investigate what the normal metatarsal formula is and compare these findings with previous research. Methods: Measurements of metatarsal lengths were taken from 20 feet of five male and five female cadavers. The mean lengths were used to identify each donor’s metatarsal formula. Results: On average, the most common formula presented was in the order of metatarsals II.III.IV.V.I. Conclusions: These findings differ from historic measurements and raise questions regarding which metatarsal formula is considered normal. Further investigation is needed to standardize a more reliable method of measuring metatarsal lengths for evaluating foot biomechanics and planning forefoot surgeries
