We compared the application of artificial dermis composite tissue flaps and traditional prefabricated flaps in a rat model of exposed bone and tendon injury.
Methods
Sprague Dawley rats were randomly divided into two groups (n = 40 per group). Group A rats received artificial dermis composite tissue flaps and group B rats received traditional prefabricated flaps. Flap appearance, range of motion, degree of swelling, tissue histologic results, and imaging findings were compared between groups at 7, 14, 21, and 28 days.
Results
There was no difference in flap appearance, range of motion, or degree of swelling between groups. However, blood perfusion of the artificial dermis composite tissue flap was better than that of the traditional prefabricated flap; the artificial dermis was also found to be thicker than the traditional prefabricated flap.
Conclusions
The artificial dermis composite tissue flap is an ideal method for repairing exposed bone and tendon, and it displays repair effects comparable with those of the traditional prefabricated flap and may be a better alternative.Permalink : https://bibliotheque.helb-prigogine.be/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id= [article]Exemplaires

[Thésaurus Mesh]TendonsRésumé : Tenosynovial giant cell tumor, also known as giant cell tumor of the tendon sheath (GCTTS), is a solitary, nodular, firm, benign, soft-tissue tumor that arises from the synovial lining of a tendon. The etiology is unknown. It is a rare soft-tissue tumor, with an overall incidence of one in 50,000 individuals, and usually affects people aged between 30 and 50 years. Magnetic resonance imaging tends to be the imaging modality of choice, used for surgical preparation. Widely accepted treatment involves local excision with or without radiotherapy. The author presents a case study involving a patient with an abnormally large, longstanding GCT-TS, diagnosed with clinical examination and imaging modalities, surgically excised, and further confirmed by pathology reports. Topic of discussion includes a review of GCT-TS. Permalink : https://bibliotheque.helb-prigogine.be/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id= [article]Exemplaires

[Thésaurus HELB]:Paramédical:Dorsiflexion de la chevilleMots-clés : pied tombant Résumé : Background: Footdrop, or the inability to actively dorsiflex the foot, may result from numerous pathologic conditions, including poliomyelitis and cerebral palsy. Although the gait of patients with footdrop can be improved by performing an extensor hallucis longus (EHL) to tibialis anterior (TA) tendon transfer, the success rate of this procedure is relatively low. Methods: Seven paralytic patients with footdrop were surgically treated using a new buttonhole-type technique that involves passing a loop of the EHL through a TA split using umbilical tape and suturing at the four corners of the EHL attaching to the TA while the foot is dorsiflexed. Results: Eight years after surgery, all three patients who were available for follow-up displayed active dorsiflexion, improved mobility, and a palpable TA-EHL tenodesis, with no cockup deformity. Conclusions: This new approach, which we term Can Tho transfer, improves the mechanical strength of TA-EHL tenodesis Permalink : https://bibliotheque.helb-prigogine.be/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id= [article]Exemplaires
