Ostéochondrome
A cartilage-capped benign tumor that often appears as a stalk on the surface of bone. It is probably a developmental malformation rather than a true neoplasm and is usually found in the metaphysis of the distal femur, proximal tibia, or proximal humerus. Osteochondroma is the most common of benign bone tumors.

[Thésaurus Mesh]Tumeurs osseusesRésumé : Osteochondromas are the most common benign bone tumors, with an incidence of 36% to
41% among benign bone tumors. They can be caused by genetics, trauma, and growth
defects. The incidence of all osteochondromas in the hands and feet is approximately 10%,
and they are extremely rare in the calcaneus. They generally arise from the metaphysis and
metaphyseal-diaphyseal region of the long bones. Osteochondromas, which are generally
painless, are noted with signs of inflammation in the bursa, vascular and nerve compression,
pain caused by joint deterioration, swelling in the subcutaneous tissue, or gait disturbance.
The incidence of malignant transformation of solitary osteochondromas is 1%. We present
two cases, an 11-year-old male patient and a 32-year-old male patient, diagnosed with
osteochondroma in the calcaneus.Permalink : https://bibliotheque.helb-prigogine.be/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id= [article]Exemplaires

[Thésaurus Mesh]Tumeurs osseusesMots-clés : Ostéochondrome fibulaire distal ostéochondrome asymptomatique du péroné Résumé : Background: Osteochondromas are benign osseous tumors encountered most routinely by physicians responsible for diagnosing musculoskeletal disorders. Often, these osseous lesions are identified following symptoms related to their impingement on adjacent soft tissue or bone.
Methods: This article presents a unique case of an asymptomatic osteochondroma of the distal fibula in a 29-year-old Caucasian woman that manifested clinically as an impingement on the tibial nerve.
Results: After resection of the osteochondroma, the patient's tarsal tunnel syndrome symptoms resolved.
Conclusions: This case report demonstrates a never-before-described osteochondroma of the distal fibula traversing posterior to the ankle joint and impinging on the tibial nerve. After resection, the patient's symptoms resolved.Permalink : https://bibliotheque.helb-prigogine.be/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id= [article]Exemplaires

[Thésaurus Mesh]Tumeurs osseusesMots-clés : tumeur bénigne Résumé : An osteochondroma or exostosis is the most common benign bone tumor, and it is commonly localized in the metaphyses of the long tubular bones. Lesions are rarely localized around the ankle. We present a case series with osteochondroma around the ankle. All of the patients presented with a mass around the ankle. In these three cases, the masses were symptomatic, and in one patient it caused a deformity. Osteochondroma was suspected after physical examination and radiologic evaluation. After preoperative work-up, diagnosis, and exhaustion of conservative care, a plan for surgical excision was presented to each patient. Histopathologic evaluations confirmed the diagnosis of osteochondroma. The patients have been discharged without any complications or symptoms during clinical followup Permalink : https://bibliotheque.helb-prigogine.be/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id= [article]Exemplaires
